Gifted – Week 1
Pastor Josh used the analogy of bikers to show that just as bikers have distinct personalities and preferences, believers in Jesus also have unique spiritual gifts. How does the analogy of different types of bikers relate to the concept of spiritual gifts?
Pastor Josh compared spiritual gifts to a toolbox, stating that believers have access to all the tools, but can master a few tools within it. What is the significance of the ‘toolbox’ analogy in relation to spiritual gifts?
Which spiritual gifts do you believe you have mastered or are working on mastering? How can you use these gifts to serve God and others?
Pastor Josh explained that using supernatural spiritual gifts blesses others and humbles the individual by reminding them that it’s all through the power of God. How have you seen the impact of spiritual gifts in your life or the lives of others around you? How does this remind you of God’s power at work?
What if we don’t allow God to put his “super” on our “natural”. How is the church adversely affected when people don’t desire to pursue to know their gifts? And what if they know their gifts, but don’t step into them?
How can Romans 12:4-8 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 help us understand and apply the concept of spiritual gifts to our lives?
Which spiritual gifts mentioned in these verses do you see in yourself or others in your life? How can our group work together to use our individual gifts for God’s purposes?
Pastor Josh used the story of Peter healing a lame man and Peter’s bold proclamation of Jesus as examples illustrating the importance of discovering and using spiritual gifts. Can you think of a specific situation in which you had an opportunity to use your spiritual gifts to share the message of Jesus or serve others? How did it impact you and the people around you?
Can you identify any unique spiritual gifts among people in your group? How can you encourage one another in using these gifts?
